Job summary

Prent Corporation, a world leader in custom thermoformed packaging, is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer. You will prototype, design, upgrade, and support automated systems, integrating robots, cameras, sensors, and servo motors while developing software to automate processes and synthesize IIoT data.

You will research emerging automation technologies, including robotics and machine learning, and communicate complex tech concepts to engineering, operations, and management teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or related field.
• Experience reading and creating schematic diagrams.
• Experience configuring computers (networking, software, peripherals).
• Strong programming abilities in any language.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Experience designing/troubleshooting low voltage control systems preferred.
• Experience programming industrial controllers and robots preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prototype, design, upgrade, and support automated systems.
• Integrate hardware including robots, cameras, sensors, and servo motors.
• Write software to automate systems, create UIs, and gather IIoT data.
• Research and develop automation technologies such as robotics and computer vision.
• Communicate technical concepts to engineering, operations, and management.
• Hands-on work to ensure systems are built, commissioned, and functional.

About your new role:

As an Automation & Controls Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

• Prototype, design, upgrade, and support automated systems in a collaborative environment.
• Integrate state-of-the-art hardware including robots, cameras, sensors, and servo motors.
• Write software to automate systems, create user interfaces, and synthesize industrial internet of things (IIOT) data.
• Research and develop emerging automation technologies – especially robotics, computer vision, and machine learning.
• Use communication skills to convey technical information to engineering, operations, and management personnel.
• Work hands-on with systems to ensure they are built, commissioned, and function as required.

What you need:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Ability to create and interpret technical documents including schematic diagrams.
• Experience configuring computers (networking, software, peripherals).
• Strong programming abilities in any language.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
