Job summary

Velvet Caviar is seeking a Product Developer to lead the mainline development of phone cases and MagSafe accessories. You will own the development cycle from concept to production, coordinating with Design, factories in China, and Production to ensure samples, testing, and costing meet the vision.

In this role, you will manage a team, develop new materials, and drive initiatives that bring collections to shelves on a fast-paced schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 4+ years of product development experience.
• Track record of launching new products or styles.
• Experience working with factories in China or similar.
• Available in Brooklyn office every Tuesday & Thursday.
• Detail oriented, highly organized, and systems minded.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills for factories and product samples.
• Excellent communication, costing, and negotiation abilities.
• Collaborative leader able to run team meetings.
• Creative thinker and strong problem solver.
• Able to conduct extensive research and present findings.
• Comfortable with mixed hours responding to factories.
• Proficient in Google Suite and Excel.
• Bonus: Illustrator or Photoshop skills.

Velvet Caviar is looking for a Product Developer who loves merging fashion with tech, has experience working directly with factories, and wants to help build one of the fastest-growing brands in phone accessories. As the lead Developer for our mainline products, you’ll lead development on every new phone case collection we launch.

You’ll own the full development cycle - turning creative concepts into production-ready tech packs, running sample rounds with our factories, and making sure every collection ships exactly as envisioned. It’s a fun, fast-moving product category with real room to grow, and you’ll be right at the center of it.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Concept new phone case and accessory collections with Design, informed by trends, customer feedback, and sales insights.
• Own the mainline development roadmap and launch calendar for phone cases, matching charms, and MagSafe accessories with the Product Director and founder.
• Manage development from concept through sampling, testing, costing, and production handoff.
• Manage and develop the Product Development Coordinator, setting priorities, delegating tasks, and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Communicate directly with overseas factories to manage samples, revisions, and development deadlines.
• Prepare tech packs, product specifications, and clear sample feedback.
• Develop new materials, finishes, and features while meeting quality and cost targets.
• Review samples for design accuracy, fit, function, and durability; secure final approvals.
• Partner with Production to ensure accurate manufacturing of approved products.
• Negotiate product and tooling costs with support from Production.
• Improve existing products based on customer feedback and quality findings.
• Manage licensing submissions and approvals for brand collaborations.
• Coordinate packaging and PR box development with Graphic Design.
• Provide approved samples and product information to Marketing and eCommerce.
• Maintain development trackers, approval records, and sample libraries with support from the Product Development Coordinator.
• Research and recommend new trends, product opportunities, and vendors.

REQUIREMENTS:

• A Bachelor's degree of relevance is required
• Minimum 4+ years of product development experience
• Track record of launching new products and or styles
• Experienced working with factories in China, etc.
• Available in Brooklyn office every Tuesday & Thursday
• Detail oriented, very organized, and systems motivated
• Comfortable working in a fast paced work environment
• Strong analytical skills for factories and product samples
