About The Role
We're looking for a skilled and proactive Product Developer - Dietary Supplements to help bring innovative, compliant, and consumer-driven supplement products to life for the US market. This role covers the full product development lifecycle—from concept to manufacturing handoff—and requires strong collaboration with contract manufacturers, co-packers, and international suppliers.
You'll turn consumer health trends and evidence-based research into ready-to-launch supplements across multiple delivery formats including capsules, powders, gummies, and functional beverages.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulation Development: Design custom dietary supplement formulations tailored to brand objectives, health benefits, and preferred delivery methods.
- Ingredient & Market Research: Research and identify functional ingredients backed by scientific studies, emerging trends, and consumer demand. Coordinate or conduct third-party market research to support formulation and product development decisions.
- Regulatory Compliance (US Focus): Ensure all product formulations, label claims, and packaging comply with applicable U.S. regulations, including FDA (DSHEA), FTC, and dietary supplement labeling requirements. Familiarity with Amazon's compliance policies is a valuable asset.
- Claims & Documentation Management: Ensure all product and packaging claims are substantiated with appropriate scientific evidence and regulatory-compliant documentation; proactively procure and manage Certificates of Analysis (COAs), clinical study references, or supplier attestations as needed to support claims.
- Manufacturing Support: Develop detailed product specs and Bill of Materials (BOMs) for handoff to contract manufacturers and co-packers, both domestic and international. Support small-batch prototyping and troubleshoot production-related formulation issues.
- Sourcing & Importing: Source raw materials or finished products from domestic and international suppliers, ensuring quality control, cost efficiency, and US import compliance.
- Strategic Consultation: Offer insight on market trends, product positioning, clean-label development, and competitive differentiation.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in dietary supplement product development or formulation.
- Strong experience collaborating with contract manufacturers and co-packers, especially for US-targeted products.
- Experience sourcing raw materials or products internationally for import and sale in the US.
- Solid understanding of nutraceutical ingredients, ingredient synergy, and supplement delivery formats.
- Deep knowledge of FDA, DSHEA, FTC, and supplement labeling requirements.
- Self-starter with excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience with gummy supplements, powder drink mixes, or functional beverage development.
- Familiarity with clean-label, organic, or sustainably sourced supplement strategies.
- Knowledge of US regulatory standards; familiarity with international regulations is a bonus.
- Prior work with startup or fast-growing health and wellness brands.
- Experience with products sold on Amazon's US Marketplace is strongly preferred.
What Success Looks Like
- Market-ready formulations that are compliant, effective, and scalable.
- Efficient coordination across formulation, sourcing, and manufacturing teams.
- Staying ahead of emerging health trends and US regulatory developments.
