Job summary

Spin Master is seeking a toy/product designer to develop and innovate outdoor, water, and backyard play experiences. You will lead projects from ideation to production, creating 2D sketches and 3D mockups, and delivering production-ready graphics and specs.

Collaborate with Marketing, Engineering, Packaging, and Asia teams to ensure design integrity and brand alignment. The role requires a BFA in Toy Design or Industrial Design, strong portfolio, and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite; OnShape

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Toy Design or Industrial Design or related field.
• Professional design experience in toy/consumer products, outdoor or water play categories.
• Strong portfolio showing end-to-end product development and technical specs.

Responsibilities

• Invent and develop kids’ toys and games for outdoor, water, and backyard play markets.
• Lead highSKU-count projects from ideation to production with minimal guidance.
• Create 2D concept boards and 3D mockups; produce production-ready artwork and specs.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Engineering, Packaging, and Asia teams to manage development cycle.
• Communicate design intent to vendors using rough sketches and modify tooling as needed.
• Develop product specifications considering manufacturing, safety, and cost targets.

Reporting to the Design Manager, you will develop and innovate kids and family toys and games for the seasonal outdoor, water, and backyard play markets. You will lead high SKU-count projects with minimal guidance, executing concepts from hands-on ideation and sketching through to production, specializing in products such as water-feature items, swim gear, fashion-focused re-brands, floats, and sports play. How will you create impact? Brainstorm, sketch, and create 2D concept boards and 3D physical mockups that focus on outdoor play innovation Develop and set up production-ready digital artwork and graphic files for products using Adobe Creative Suite Partner with Marketing, Engineering, Packaging, and Asia-based development teams to manage the product development cycle for owned and licensed IP Navigate licensor style guides, assets, and approval systems to ensure design integrity and brand alignment Direct external manufacturing vendors using rough sketches to communicate design intent and structural modifications Create detailed product specifications that account for manufacturing capabilities, safety standards, and target costing Manage assigned project timelines, proactively flagging potential schedule risks and design challenges to Project Management What are your skills and experience? Undergraduate degree (BFA) in Toy Design, Industrial Design, or a related creative discipline Professional design experience in the toy or consumer products industry, specifically within outdoor, seasonal, or water play categories Expertise in product play patterns, ergonomics, and safety standards for children ages three and up Advanced proficiency in design software, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, with OnShape or similar CAD experience as a plus Strong hand-sketching and physical prototyping skills to quickly iterate, test, and present concepts to stakeholders Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling capabilities, and materials transformation within toy categories A professional portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product development, creative layout, and technical specification sheets #LI-Hybrid #LI-HM1 The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in [STATE] is $_________ to $_________ [Per Annum / Per Hour].
