Job summary

Spin Master is seeking a Design Manager to lead a team of designers from concept through production for global toys. You will work with Product Development, Marketing, Brand Management and Quality to ensure performance, cost, quality, and schedule adherence.

The role reports to the Design Lead and requires coordinating with cross-functional groups to meet milestones. Based in Playa Vista, CA, this position emphasizes craft, manufacturability, and innovative brand design.

• Consumer products industry; toy package design preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat.
• A strong sense of design and good use of typography.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate cross-functional milestones to deliver on-cost, on-spec, on-time.
• Impart expert training and skills to team members in all aspects of the product cycle, including developing play patterns, key features, spec and model development and understanding of manufacturability.
• Collaborate with Design Lead on product review meetings and create action plan for deliverables.
• Create a cohesive and collaborative working environment.
• Anticipate, analyse, resolve, and escape issues related to project, schedule, or cross-departmental challenges.
• Drive productivity by implementing design for manufacturing/assembly up front.
• Manage and track key deliverables and proactively resolve future issues to keep the product on track, on cost, and on specification.
• Improve efficiency in the design process through continuous improvement.
• Liaise with the Design Lead, Design Director and to deliver innovative results that support the brand strategy.

What will you work on?

The Design Manager will lead a team of designers and guide them throughout the execution of global toys, from concept through production, and ensuring performance, cost, quality, and schedule adherence.

The Design Manager will work closely with large cross-functional teams (Product Development, Marketing, Brand Management, Quality, Brand Design, etc.) and evaluate individual design deliverables alongside team performance, delivering critical feedback when necessary.

This role is 4 days per week in our Playa Vista office.

The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $107,000 to $142,700 Per Annum.
