Job description

Remote Design Systems Designer

We're seeking an experienced Product Designer specializing in design systems to help define the visual language and user experience for next-generation wearable products, including glasses, watches, and other emerging hardware experiences.

In this role, you'll help build, evolve, and steward a scalable design system used across products and platforms. You'll work closely with product designers and engineering partners to create reusable components, maintain Figma libraries, establish effective workflows, and document how the system should be used.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented designer who enjoys bringing structure to complex product ecosystems and wants to have a meaningful impact on the look and feel of future wearable technology.

What You'll Do
  • Build, organize, maintain, and distribute a comprehensive Figma component library
  • Create and maintain reusable components, patterns, templates, and key product flows
  • Develop detailed design specifications for components and patterns
  • Write, publish, and maintain clear design system documentation
  • Partner with product designers to explore and define new component variants
  • Help establish and improve design system workflows across design and engineering
  • Manage design handoffs, specifications, task tracking, and design system updates
  • Troubleshoot issues related to design files, components, layers, and file organization
  • Provide guidance and support to designers using the design system
  • Conduct detailed design audits across iOS, Android, web, and other supported platforms
  • Identify opportunities to improve consistency, scalability, usability, and efficiency across the product ecosystem
  • Help scale design system knowledge, standards, and best practices across the organization
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of relevant product or digital design experience
  • Strong experience developing, maintaining, or stewarding design systems
  • Expert-level proficiency with Figma, including component libraries and reusable design patterns
  • Experience translating product requirements into scalable components and interaction patterns
  • Strong attention to detail and a systems-oriented approach to design
  • Experience creating clear design specifications and documentation
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills with the ability to advocate for design system standards and practices
  • Experience working closely with product designers and engineering partners
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and some ambiguity
  • Experience designing for native platforms such as iOS, Android, macOS, or Windows, as well as responsive web experiences
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and basic markup concepts
Additional Experience
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Familiarity with file management and versioning workflows using tools such as Dropbox, Google Drive, or GitHub
  • Experience training designers or scaling design system knowledge across teams
  • Proficiency creating and presenting design concepts using tools such as Apple Keynote or Google Slides
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience building or significantly scaling a design system
  • Strong prototyping skills
  • Experience working on complex, multi-platform product ecosystems
  • Ability to clearly present design rationale and build consensus across stakeholders
  • Experience establishing productive partnerships between design systems, product design, and engineering teams
  • Experience with production design and component-level quality assurance
  • Passion for design systems and helping other designers work more consistently and efficiently
Why This Role

You'll have the opportunity to influence the visual language and user experience of emerging wearable technology while helping establish the systems that enable products to scale. The role combines hands-on product design with design system strategy, component development, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration, making it well suited for a designer who enjoys creating both exceptional experiences and the frameworks behind them.
