Job description

K. Hovnanian Companies is seeking a creative, collaborative, and detail-oriented Product Designer to help shape the products, interiors, and design experiences that bring our homes and communities to life. This role supports ontrend interior concepts, new product designs, model homes, clubhouses, design standards, and visualization deliverables in partnership with Interior Design, Direct Supply, Architecture, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams.

About the Role

The Product Designer will help bring future-focused interiors, product concepts, model homes, clubhouses, and design standards from idea to execution. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for design, a portfolio that demonstrates product thinking and technical capability, and the ability to translate creative concepts into practical, buildable solutions.

This is an opportunity for a curious, organized, and collaborative designer who enjoys working across teams. You will help connect design vision with supply chain execution, customer insights, internal data, and field needs—while contributing to work that directly influences the homebuyer experience.

What You’ll Do

You will support product design, interiors, sourcing, documentation, and implementation from concept through execution. Key responsibilities include:

  • Research residential design trends and product opportunities across lighting, finishes, cabinetry, plumbing, building materials, and other interior elements.
  • Support future-focused product offerings, design standards, model homes, clubhouses, sales centers, and visualization deliverables.
  • Evaluate domestic and international products and vendors, identify customization needs, and support prototype, specification, and documentation efforts.
  • Create and coordinate technical drawings, specifications, finish schedules, and interior documentation using CAD/3D modeling and related design tools.
  • Collaborate with Interior Design, Direct Supply, Architecture, Marketing, supply chain, and field teams to bring design concepts to life.
  • Use data, timelines, cost considerations, and customer insights to balance aesthetics, quality, budget, and implementation needs.
What You’ll Bring

You bring experience in product design, residential or commercial interiors, sourcing, supplier collaboration, and technical documentation. Experience with domestic and overseas suppliers, manufacturers, buying agents, inspection services, product testing, and consumer product goods—such as decorative lighting, plumbing, hardware, case goods, sheet goods, and flat-packed finished systems is preferred. Strong communication, organization, negotiation and time-management skills are essential.

Why Join K. Hovnanian?

At K. Hovnanian, we do more than build houses—we help customers find their way home. For more than 65 years, our teams have contributed to communities where families create memories, build futures and enjoy spaces they love. As part of our Interior Design and Direct Supply teams, you will have the opportunity to combine creativity, technical skill, and business insight in work that is visible, meaningful, and connected to the customer experience.

  • Contribute to design solutions that influence homes and communities across the country.
  • Collaborate with talented professionals across Interior Design, Architecture, Marketing, Direct Supply, and field teams.
  • Bring ideas from concept to execution with creative input, cross-functional support, and practical resources.
  • Join a company with a longstanding reputation in homebuilding and a mission centered on helping customers love where they live.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with the full product design process, including production documentation, specifications, cut sheets, factory catalogue review, and prototype evaluation.
  • Knowledge of construction administration, supply chain management, quality assurance/quality control, compliance review, certifications, and third-party testing.
  • Residential design experience, with the ability to balance design quality, cost timelines, and implementation needs.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and follow-through skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to communities within the United States as needed.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Industrial Design, Interior Design, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience with an architecture, interiors, or product design firm, with a strong focus on interior products. Candidates should be comfortable supporting work from concept through design development and should understand supply chain management, specification documentation, compliance review, budgeting, constructability, and cost-conscious design.

Software and Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/Revit, SolidWorks, Rhino, or related CAD/3D modeling tools.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Asana or similar platforms.
  • Ability to create finish, plumbing, and lighting specifications while supporting cost, inventory, shipping, tariff, and compliance considerations.
