Job summary

MANN+HUMMEL in Portage, Michigan, seeks a design engineer to lead filtration system development and CAD tasks. You will conceptualize complex product designs, evaluate specifications with cross-functional teams, and coordinate CAE activities to validate performance and cost targets.

The role emphasizes optimizing designs for manufacturing, collaborating with operations, and supporting Kaizen/DLS workshops and gate-based processes.

Qualifications

• Vocational Training or comparable qualification in engineering.
• Experience with CAD tasks and CAE validation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the design and development of filtration systems.
• Conceptualizes complex new product designs, changes, and concepts to meet specifications, cost, and timing.
• Works with cross-functional teams to evaluate product designs and specifications, determining feasibility while minimizing costs for development and manufacturing.
• Collaborates with operations to understand process capabilities and provides product design recommendations aligned with production strategies.
• Coordinates CAE necessary to validate product designs analytically.
• Analyzes results to optimize design for performance, manufacturing robustness, and cost efficiency.
• Completes CAD tasks as assigned by the Lead Product Engineer (LPE) and/or Manager – Design & Development, coordinating with GBTS as needed.
• Actively participates in Kaizen/DLS workshops and supports annual objectives.
• Completes required tasks for each Gate per xSEP process.
