Job summary

Gems Setra, a leading global sensing technologies provider within the Ralliant Corporation, seeks a Project Design Engineer to drive detailed product design from concept handoff to production release. You will ensure fully defined, manufacturable designs using SolidWorks, manage BOMs, and coordinate changes across multiple functions.

The role emphasizes DFx, VAVE, and Lean practices, with exposure to ERP systems like JD Edwards and PIM integration.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3-5+ years in mechanical/electromechanical design within manufacturing.
• Proven experience releasing production-ready designs from concept through manufacturing.
• Strong SolidWorks experience with CSWP desirable.
• Experience supporting configurator-driven or multi-variant product structures.
• Knowledge of machining, injection molding, casting, and assembly.
• Exposure to ERP/PDM/CAD/PIM integrated environments desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed product design from concept to production release using SolidWorks (models, drawings, configurations).
• Apply DFx to deliver manufacturable, cost-effective designs with tolerance analysis and material selection.
• Define and maintain complete product definitions including drawings and BOMs for manufacturing.
• Execute engineering changes (ECR/ECO) and implement product updates.
• Release customer-driven configurations and product variants with configurator outputs.
• Partner with Product Management to maintain configuration rules and align design with offerings.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to implement changes (BOMs, work instructions, quality requirements).
• Ensure accuracy and alignment of product data across CAD/PDM, ERP, PIM, and web platforms.
• Support NPI scale-up and sustaining production by resolving design and manufacturing issues.
• Identify and drive VAVE and continuous improvement initiatives across systems and processes.
