Job summary

Waymo LLC in the United States seeks a Staff Product Data Scientist to join its cross-functional Product Data Science team. You will build optimization and machine learning models to improve fleet utilization and rider experience, and run experiments to validate deployments.

You will run offline and online experiments, partner with engineering to deploy production pipelines, and translate results into actionable insights shaping marketplace performance and product strategy.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 1 year of industry experience applying quantitative methods in a business environment.
• Strong coding skills in Python and SQL with a track record of building and manipulating data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Build novel optimization models to strategically assign and dispatch vehicles to high-value locations when they are off-hail.
• Build machine learning models to improve vehicle value predictions and fleet utilization metrics.
• Conduct offline and online experiments to monitor, analyze, and optimize model deployments in real-world environments.
• Partner with engineering to translate optimization algorithms and predictive logic into automated, production-grade pipelines.
• Translate complex statistical and optimization results into actionable insights that drive marketplace performance and product strategy.
