Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace in Troy, MI is seeking an Assistant Produce Prep Manager to help manage the produce prep department at the Troy location.

The role involves directing department functions, supervising staff, coordinating production, stocking, and ensuring quality and customer service to meet sales and efficiency goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. is required.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Able to work early mornings, nights and weekends.
• 1–3 months related experience and/or demonstrated ability required.
• Food service certification preferred.
• Knowledge of knives and their use.
• Experience in stocking, rotation procedures, product knowledge, and customer service.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Excellent knowledge of department products.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Great attitude and people skills.
• Must be 18+ with knowledge of department operations.
• Able to stand/walk 8+ hours.
• Able to sit, squat, stoop, reach, kneel, crouch and crawl.
• Able to bend, lift 25–50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise all department functions to meet sales, gross profit, service, and labor goals.
• Cut, chop and prepare all produce items per standards.
• Coordinate production, merchandising, and distribution with Produce Managers.
• Oversee training, ordering, attendance, and policy adherence in conjunction with Produce Managers.
• Assist in interviewing and developing associates in Produce and Produce Prep departments.
• Be familiar with all department products and variations.
• Plan product distribution, merchandising, and stocking per shift.
• Assist in ordering and inventory control to ensure freshness and turnover.
• Ensure proper receiving, price marking, and restocking procedures.
• Verify merchandise against invoices and quality standards.
• Collaborate with Produce Prep to optimize operations across departments.
• Handle damaged/spoiled products per policy and reduce losses.
• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Motivate associates to meet sales and customer service goals.
• Lead by example and maintain excellent customer service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
