PRODUCE/LEAD CLERK (Finance)

Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Produce department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Produce operations. Minimum Qualifications
- 18 years of age
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Current food handlers permit once employed

Responsibilities
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, safety and food safety regulations, and company guidelines.
- Promote trust and respect among associates.

- Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets through collaboration and teamwork.
- Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
- Train and develop associates on performance of their job, including inventory, stocking, CAO, Key Retailing, and other aspects.
- Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions and recommending products within the department and store.
- Offer product samples and inform customers of produce specials.
- Review and inspect products for quality and freshness; take appropriate action on items as needed.
- Utilize Fresh Insights to ensure proper sell-through and shrink reduction.
- Recommend produce items to customers to meet their needs.
- Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
- Work in refrigerated areas for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Implement merchandising promotional plans for the department.
- Keep all department associates current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Monitor and control departmental expenses.
- Maintain inventory and stocking conditions; note discrepancies.
- Ensure price integrity, including shelf tags and promotional signs.
- Assist in inventory processes.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
- Report safety risks, accidents, and illegal activities such as theft or fraud.
- Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
