Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Produce department. Support the day-to-day operations of Produce. Responsibilities

• Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, safety, and food safety regulations, and company guidelines.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
• Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets through collaboration and teamwork.
• Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
• Train and develop associates on performance of their job, including inventory, stocking, CAO, Key Retailing, and other aspects.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions and recommending products.
• Offer product samples and inform customers of produce specials.
• Review and inspect products for quality and freshness; take appropriate action on items as needed.
• Utilize Fresh Insights to ensure proper sell-through and reduce shrinkage.
• Recommend produce items to customers to meet their needs.
• Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
• Work in refrigerated areas for hours at a time and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
• Implement merchandising promotional plans for the department.
• Keep all department associates updated on present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Monitor and control department expenses.
• Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions; note discrepancies.
• Ensure price integrity with shelf tags and promotional signs.
• Assist in inventory processes.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
• Report safety risks, accidents, and illegal activities.
• Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum

• 18 years of age

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction)

• Current food handler's permit upon employment
