Responsibilities
- Develop maximum customer relations by produce department personnel through personal example of friendliness and courtesy, and implementation of all company policies.
- Be alert and assist in store security.
- Handle customer complaints effectively.
- Make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, disciplining, demoting, transferring, and evaluating all produce department personnel.
- Properly indoctrinate all department employees, ensuring they can read scales and prices correctly.
- Provide training in price marking, emphasizing customer courtesy and productivity.
- Supervise all aspects of salad bar operations.
- Coordinate with the store manager to develop efficient work schedules for full and part-time employees.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance for departmental staff, ensuring proper uniforms and identification.
- Maintain good communication with all store personnel.
- Plan, organize, direct, and control the activities of the produce department, and potentially take charge of store operations in the absence of the store manager.
- Oversee the receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of produce.
- Ensure adequate stock levels through proper ordering.
- Maintain and submit required records and reports effectively.
- Ensure cleanliness in all areas, including case defrosting, floor cleaning, and waste disposal.
- Keep supplies on hand, such as bags and pricing equipment.
- Continuously analyze and improve department operations, making recommendations to the store manager.
- Promote and communicate company initiatives positively to team members.
- Interact professionally, demonstrating tact, calmness, and courtesy.
- Manage personnel and organize workloads effectively.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the store manager or supervisor.
- Work well in high-paced, stressful environments and manage conflicts cooperatively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Qualifications
Minimum
- Flexible availability including mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Understanding of key department operations such as managing people, merchandising, inventory, and customer service.
- Good communication skills and quick decision-making ability.
- Ability to handle stressful situations tactfully and calmly.
- Skills in production, merchandising, and customer service related to food sales.
