Job Description

Implement all company and division policies to achieve maximum sales and profits in the produce departments. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop maximum customer relations by produce department personnel through personal example of friendliness and courtesy, and implementation of all company policies.
  2. Be alert and assist in store security.
  3. Handle customer complaints effectively.
  4. Make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, disciplining, demoting, transferring, and evaluating all produce department personnel.
  5. Ensure proper indoctrination of all department employees, including reading scales and prices correctly.
  6. Provide training in price marking, emphasizing customer courtesy and productivity.
  7. Supervise all aspects of salad bar operations.
  8. Coordinate with store manager to develop efficient work schedules for full and part-time employees.
  9. Maintain a clean and professional appearance for departmental staff, with proper uniforms and identification.
  10. Maintain good communication with all store personnel.
  11. Plan, organize, direct, and control produce department activities; may assume store operation in the manager's absence.
  12. Manage receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of produce.
  13. Maintain adequate stock levels through proper ordering.
  14. Keep and utilize records and reports effectively.
  15. Ensure cleanliness of all areas, including cases, floors, coolers, and disposal of waste.
  16. Keep supplies on hand, such as bags and pricing equipment.
  17. Continuously analyze and improve department space, design, display, pricing, rotation, inventories, and personnel.
  18. Promote and communicate company initiatives positively.
  19. Interact professionally and courteously at all times.
  20. Manage people and organize workloads efficiently.
  21. Perform all other duties assigned by the store manager or supervisor.
  22. Work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  23. Handle conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
  24. Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
  25. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
  26. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  27. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Minimum
  • Flexibility to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Understanding of key department operations: managing people, merchandising, inventory, customer service, scheduling, expenses.
  • Knowledge of produce and store operations.
  • Strong communication skills and quick reaction to changing priorities.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to make quick, intelligent decisions.
  • Calm and tactful handling of stressful situations.
  • Skills in production, merchandising, and customer service related to food sales.
Desired
  • Experience in food preparation.
  • Dependable and honest work history.
