Job summary

King Soopers seeks a Produce Department Supervisor to lead a high-volume department in a fast-paced retail environment. You will manage people, merchandising, pricing, scheduling, and ensure top-notch customer service and safety standards.

The role requires strong communication and the ability to work with store leadership on strategic improvements. Responsibilities include directing receiving, pricing, and inventory, training staff, and maintaining clean, well-organized departments.

Qualifications

• Understanding of department operations: managing people, merchandising, computer assisted ordering, inventory management, shrink control, customer services, labor scheduling, expense control.

Responsibilities

• Develop maximum customer relations by produce department personnel through personal example of friendliness and courtesy, and implementation of all company policies.
• Be alert and assist in store security.
• Be perceptive and handle customer complaints.
• Make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, disciplining, demotion, transferring and evaluating all produce department personnel.
• Provide knowledge and training of price marking and customer courtesy.
• Supervise all aspects of salad bar operations.
• Discuss with store manager working schedules for full and part-time employees for maximum efficiency.
• Maintain neat appearance of department personnel and proper uniforms.
• Maintain good communication with store personnel.
• Plan, organize, direct, and control the activities of the produce department; may take charge in absence of store manager.
• Direct receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of produce products.
• Assure adequate stock by proper ordering; maintain inventories at optimum levels.
• Maintain and submit required records and reports; ensure cleanliness across areas.
• Keep supplies on hand: bags, pricing, equipment.
• Analyze all aspects of the produce department and suggest changes to store manager.
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements to direct reports.
• Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional.
• Demonstrate aptitude to manage people and workloads.
• Perform duties as assigned by store manager or supervisor.
• Work cooperatively in high paced and stressful environments.
• Manage conflict constructively.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding information.
• Follow directions and resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
