Job summary

Qualifications

• Willing to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights as required.

• Understanding of department operations (managing people, merchandising, computer assisted ordering, inventory management, shrink control, labor scheduling, expense control).
• Working knowledge of produce operations and general store functions.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Able to tactfully handle stressful situations and maintain a positive impression on staff and customers.

Responsibilities

• Develop maximum customer relations by produce department personnel through friendliness and courtesy; implement company policies.
• Be alert and assist in store security.
• Handle customer complaints.
• Participate in hiring, firing, disciplining, transferring and evaluating produce staff.
• Instruct staff to read scales and prices correctly.
• Train on price marking and customer courtesy.
• Supervise salad bar operations.
• Plan schedules for full and part-time staff for efficiency.
• Maintain neat appearance and uniforms for department personnel.
• Maintain communication with store personnel.
• Direct receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of produce.
• Ensure adequate stock by proper ordering.
• Maintain records and reports; keep area clean and organized.
• Analyze space, displays, inventories, and staffing; suggest improvements to store manager.
• Promote company initiatives to direct reports.
• Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional.
• Manage workload and resolve conflicts constructively.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Support minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
