Job summary

Fresh Thyme Market is seeking a Produce Clerk to keep the Produce Department stocked, clean, and inviting. You will assist customers, manage product rotation, and ensure accurate pricing while upholding safety and food-handling standards.

The role involves working with knives and scales, stocking and rotating items, and supporting the department's promotional efforts. A high school diploma is required, with grocery retail experience and knowledge of natural foods a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years grocery retail experience in Floral department preferred.
• Previous experience in a natural foods industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Keep the Produce Department, floral area, storage area, and work areas clean and safe, including shelves and floors.
• Stock and rotate produce, ensure accurate tagging and pricing, and maintain presentation.
• Assist customers with purchases and product selection, cross-sell where appropriate.
• Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy, temperature and quality.
• Support signage, coupons, and promotional materials in the department.
• Operate equipment like knives, scales, wrappers, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Participate in pre-inventory preparations and back stock management.
• Lead or assist in the cut fruit and vegetable program.
• Contribute to department sales and profitability goals.
• Maintain product knowledge and proper product handling and shelf life.
