Job summary

United Supermarkets, Ltd. seeks a Produce Assistant Manager to oversee guest relations and assist the Department Manager in ordering, merchandising, and department training.

You will help lead a team to deliver safe, legal, and profitable operations while maintaining high standards of product availability and guest satisfaction. The role requires 6 months to 1 year in produce, strong communication, and leadership skills, plus the ability to work long shifts in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 6 months to 1 year produce experience
• Ability to work and communicate with all levels of management and subordinates in a professional manner
• Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve and work with minimal supervision
• Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 4 hours)
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 60 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
• Ability to work within a fridge and/or freezer for long periods of time
• Must possess basic math and computer skills (Word, Excel, Email)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, but controlled manner
• Must maintain Certified Food Safety Manager certification
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
• Flexible to work various hours/shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Open to supervisory coaching and teamwork

Responsibilities

• Acknowledge, greet, and engage every guest entering the department
• Assist with interviewing, training, scheduling, performance and productivity of department team members
• Communicate information distribution to the entire department
• Maintain positive atmosphere, morale, and teamwork within the department
• Demonstrate leadership by managing time and delegation
• Support division concepts and programs
• Contribute to achieving financial goals
• Ensure quality product availability and guest satisfaction
• Safeguard, monitor, and control department assets and enforce policies
• Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and safe work environment
• Ensure department systems and processes are used correctly
• Collaborate with Department Manager for planning production and promotions
• Assist with coaching and development of team members
• Coordinate books and manuals updates
• Coordinate inventory process and reporting
• Handle department issues in the absence of the Department Manager
• Ensure Food Safety Procedures are adhered to
• Train and test checkers in produce recognition
• Demonstrate conflict management skills
• Perform other duties as required by upper management
