Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Produce Assistant Department Manager to help run the Produce department. You will work with the Department Manager to keep the area fresh, organized, and compliant, while leading and training a team of Produce Clerks.

You will greet customers, share knowledge of produce items, and ensure proper temperatures and rotation. The role requires 18+ and a willingness to lead when needed, with opportunities for career growth within Hy-Vee.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Food safety training encouraged
• Experience in a produce or retail environment preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service and assist customers with produce needs
• Maintain product freshness, rotation, replenishment, and proper refrigeration
• Set and reset sales areas to promote products
• Coordinate operations in salad bar and juice bar areas
• Unload deliveries, verify invoices, and aid inventory
• Train new employees and support department team development
• Lead in the absence of the Department Manager
• Ensure sanitation and compliance with department guidelines
• Answer customer inquiries professionally and maintain a clean work area
