Job summary

CenterPoint Energy in Houston is seeking an enthusiastic student for an internship within our Procurement Organization. You will work with procurement, operations and management teams to learn hands-on about our business and the utility industry, under the supervision of the Procurement Manager.

You will perform SAP transactions, assist in purchasing standard materials and services, execute RFX events, analyze data, and collaborate with other interns on a project that adds measurable value to

Qualifications

• Currently a junior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• At least 2 years of education toward the major (Supply Chain, Finance, Materials Management, Project Management, Business, Logistics).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Perform SAP transactions and other duties as required by CNP Procurement personnel.
• Assist in the procurement of standard materials and services from suppliers at the lowest cost, with consideration to quality and reliability.
• Execute RFX activities in conjunction with ongoing bid events.
• Extract, sort, format, interpret and communicate various data analyses.
• Collaborate with the other Summer Intern(s) on a group project that creates a positive impact on the Procurement organization and CenterPoint Energy.
• Develop a working knowledge of procurement systems and processes.
