Job summary

The Virginia Department of Corrections is seeking a Buyer Specialist for the State Farm Complex in Goochland County. You will perform purchasing activities under VPPA, draft specifications, bids and RFPs, evaluate proposals, and award contracts.

You will keep the Accountant and Business Manager informed of issues and resolutions. Applicants should have procurement experience, COI compliance ability, and ideally VCA/VCO certifications; training may be required within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• Experience in public or private procurement.
• COI filing within required timeframes.
• Ability to follow complex procurement policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform VPPA-based procurement following DPS/DGS policies.
• Prepare specifications, bids, and RFPs; evaluate bids and make initial award.
• Coordinate vendor performance evaluations and keep leadership informed.
