Job summary

Simtra BioPharma Solutions, based in Bloomington, Indiana, is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to partner with manufacturing and support groups to place orders and manage supplier relationships. The role emphasizes maintaining inventory levels and reducing aging material while supporting procurement cost reductions.

The position reports to a Purchasing Manager and requires 3+ years in purchasing/inventory, with ERP experience (JDE, Trackwise, Pilgrim, Documentum).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some college or Associate Degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years inventory/purchasing or related experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience and/or ability to use enterprise software (e.g., JDE, Documentum, Pilgrim, Trackwise).
• Strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Obtain quotes and pricing information from vendors.
• Perform queries for supplier and part information in JDE.
• Maintain cost savings and appropriate inventory levels.
• Create part numbers.
• Interpret materials resource planning tool and place orders (stock and client-dedicated; assigned commodity).
• Manage inventory to meet inventory turns and reduce aged inventory.
• Conduct annual price/cost analysis.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies such as duplicate shipments, incorrect quantity, or pricing on Purchase Orders.
• Ensure all PO paperwork is correct for accounting functions.
• Liaison between Receiving and vendors on-site to resolve issues.
• Identify improvements in methods/systems and develop action plans to reduce procurement costs and non-value-added activities.
