Job summary

Lamar Institute of Technology in Beaumont, TX, is seeking a Procurement Specialist I to handle entry-level procurement duties within the Procurement Services department. The role reports directly to the Director of Procurement Services and is a full-time, exempt position.

Responsibilities include researching and procuring commodities, processing requisitions, issuing purchase orders, soliciting bids, and ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• At least three years of experience in State purchasing and contracting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Research and procure commodities, equipment, and services in accordance with state and federal guidelines, policies, and laws.
• Prepare and issue department POs to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations, guidelines, policies, and laws.
• Review bid invitations, tabulate bid evaluations, and determine best value with senior staff.
• Maintain procurement reports, records, and files; assist with vendor setup and maintenance in Banner/USAS.
• Promote VetHUB program initiatives within procurement activities.
