Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking an Undergraduate Student Intern in the Procurement Department to gain exposure to the contract lifecycle, from planning to proposals and pricing analysis. The role offers a hybrid schedule with potential for some work-from-home days and collaboration across teams who buy goods and services for a national lab.

Qualifications

• Eligibility to access LLNL under NDAA Section 3112.
• Undergraduate student in junior or senior year in Business Administration, SCM, Procurement, Operations Management, Finance or Economics or related field.
• Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills to procurement problems.
• Interest in contracts, purchasing, supply chain operations, or business analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Ability to organize information, manage multiple priorities, and maintain documentation.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Attention to detail and sound judgment with business information.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare and review documents describing what LLNL needs to purchase and the plan for the purchase.
• Research potential suppliers and organize information about their products, services, and capabilities.
• Help prepare and send requests inviting suppliers to provide pricing or proposals.
• Review supplier responses for completeness and alignment with requirements.
• Gather and compare cost and pricing information to assist contract analysts.
• Help manage purchase orders and contracts by updating records and tracking actions.
• Collaborate with purchasing staff, LLNL employees, project teams, and suppliers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
