Baillie Lumber Co. is seeking a Procurement Forester in Owego, NY for full-time work with a focus on locating, assessing, and negotiating timber purchases to feed multiple hardwood sawmills. The role covers boundary marking, cruising, appraisal, and harvest oversight to ensure quality and supply.

Required AS/BS forestry education, teamwork, clean driving record, and strong math/map-reading skills. Competitive salary and full benefits are offered, with overtime pay available.

Qualifications

• BS in Forestry (preferred).
• AS in Forestry or affiliated discipline.
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
• Clean driving record required.
• Good communication skills.
• Proficient math skills.
• Northern Hardwood tree ID and map reading skills.

Responsibilities

• Locate and purchase standing timber; supervise harvests and assess BMP compliance.
• Assess timber quality, quantity, and value; cruise timber for measurement; mark boundaries.
• Oversee timber sale preparation, permits, and purchase due diligence.
• Identify skid roads, landings, and apply costs to harvest activities.
