Job summary

Collins is seeking a Procurement Forester to develop, purchase, and manage timber and log supply for continuous sawmill operations. The role involves negotiating with landowners, managing supplier networks, and coordinating harvest schedules to align with mill requirements.

Successful candidates will combine forestry knowledge with financial analysis, negotiation skills, and understanding of sawmill operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Forest Management, Natural Resources, Forest Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in timber cruising, timber procurement, forest operations, or related forestry work.
• Prior experience purchasing timber for a sawmill and timber contracts.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop opportunities to purchase timber from private landowners, state and federal forestlands, brokers, and other suppliers.
• Maintain a pipeline of current and future timber procurement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with landowners and timber suppliers.
• Evaluate timber sale opportunities and make purchase recommendations.
• Negotiate timber purchase prices and terms within authority.
• Monitor timber supply to support mill production requirements.
• Coordinate timber harvest schedules with contractors and operations.
• Ensure timber procurement complies with laws, regulations, and company policies.
