Job summary

Collins seeks a Procurement Forester to lead timber and log supply for continuous sawmill operations. You will manage relationships with landowners, managers, contractors, brokers, and suppliers, evaluate timber sales, and negotiate purchases to meet production and sustainability goals.

The role requires strong forestry knowledge, financial analysis, and negotiation skills, with a focus on ensuring procurement meets mill requirements and market conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Forest Management, Natural Resources, Forest Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in timber cruising, timber procurement, forest operations, or related forestry work.
• Experience purchasing timber for a sawmill and timber contracts.
• California Registered Professional Forester license not required, but encouraged to obtain within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop opportunities to purchase timber from private landowners, state and federal forestlands, brokers, and other suppliers.
• Maintain a pipeline of current and future timber procurement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with landowners and timber suppliers.
• Evaluate timber sale opportunities and make purchase recommendations.
• Negotiate timber purchase prices and terms within company authority.
• Monitor timber procurement to align with mill requirements and market conditions.
