Job summary

Mill Steel Company, based in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a Procurement Coordinator to streamline the flow of steel across our operations. You will work with processing vendors and our fulfillment team to optimize the supply chain, issue purchase orders, track progress, and expeditate as needed.

You're expected to manage supplier relations, inventory, and external production activities while identifying opportunities for cost reduction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or production operations.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement/inventory systems.
• Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations ERP experience preferred.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee procurement activities including purchase order creation and vendor communication.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and monitor quality compliance.
• Analyze customer forecasts, inventory levels, and purchasing plans to reduce costs.
• Lead vendor selection, onboarding, and performance evaluations; drive delivery, quality, and pricing.
• Monitor and expedite production at outside processors to ensure on-time delivery.
• Oversee material flow to and from vendors with accurate system updates and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with internal departments to align procurement with production schedules.
• Manage supply chain disruptions and develop contingency plans.
• Lead continuous improvement projects aimed at cost reduction and efficiency.
• Provide weekly and monthly reporting on procurement performance and cost savings initiatives.
• Support leadership with data-driven insights for strategic sourcing.
