Colonial Group is seeking a Contracting Agent I to optimize contracting services for plant expansion and maintenance, ensuring timely, cost-effective bids and qualified craftsmen. This role supports local and centralized procurement efforts and requires strong procurement acumen.

The candidate should be proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook, with AS400 knowledge considered a plus, and must communicate clearly, pay attention to detail, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years industry business experience
• Bachelor's degree required
• Proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Detail oriented with excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of AS400 is a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform contracting services for the plant expansion and/or maintenance work at the right time, with the right quality, in the right quantity, and at the right price.
• Follow the procurement procedures and techniques to conduct contracting services related to pre-award and post-award functions, and to perform well defined contract actions.
• Evaluate contractors' bid documents and specifications, and analyze prices, previous performance, commitments and indications of financial responsibility to recommend the most advantageous proposal.
• Verify the correctness of Contract/PO documentation and properly issue the Notice of Award and Contract.
• Observe and monitor market conditions and business practices to evaluate bid responsiveness, contractor responsibility and performance.
• Communicate, collaborate, facilitate, influence and motivate internal and external contacts including Engineering Center Staff, Maintenance and Operation Groups, Accounting, Local Contracting, and others.
