Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Department of Integrative Biology is seeking a Procurement Officer to provide responsible, complex administrative support with purchasing for a large research department on UT's main campus in Austin.

The position handles procurement duties, creates purchase orders (PBO, PB3, PB4), manages UT Market orders through FRMS, and serves as a liaison with vendors, with potential evening/weekend hours during peak periods.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required with 2+ years of experience.
  • Strong customer service, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently with limited supervision.
  • Experience with MS 365 and university financial applications.

Responsibilities

  • Procure goods and services for the Department of Integrative Biology; create PO documents (PBO, PB3, PB4).
  • Process UT Market orders via FRMS; assist lab personnel with procurement procedures.
  • Act as vendor liaison; add new vendors to UT systems; manage procurement card usage.
  • Resolve purchasing issues; document processes per policy; coordinate with multiple offices and vendors.
  • Assist with accounting tasks such as disencumbering POs and audits support.
  • Coordinate vehicle driving tests and scheduling; ensure lab equipment tagging and inventory.
