Processing Crew Lead at Vital Farms
This role at Egg Central Station (ECS) is critical in bridging the gap from local family farms to grocery stores for our consumers. You’ll be on your feet during each twelve‑hour shift, moving, lifting, loading, and working with air‑conditioned and sunlight‑filled warehouse. This position is designed for current Vital Farms employees only.
Schedule
2‑2‑3 schedule: 2‑week cycle
- Week 1: 2 days on / 2 days off / 3 days on
- Week 2: 2 days off / 2 days on / 3 days off
Shifts: 12‑hour shifts
- Day Crew – 6 am to 6 pm
- Night Crew – 6 pm to 6 am
Pay Rate:
- Day Crew – $22.25 per hour
- Night Crew – $22.25 per hour (+ $3.00 shift differential)
What You’ll Do
- Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedule
- Set daily / weekly / monthly objectives and communicate to employees
- Lead and develop operators, creating equipment and system ownership
- Work directly with shift supervisors and managers to regulate production and meet goals
- Evaluate job performance of operators
- Ensure all personnel safety and food safety procedures are followed rigorously
- Drive continuous improvement of waste elimination
- Anticipate problems and make quick decisions under time pressure
- Must be able to perform all jobs on the lines and be able to coach others in work
- Lead daily direction setting meetings when required
- Provide verbal and/or written recommendations to supervisor concerning problems or issues
What You Bring to the Table
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English for safety and food quality reasons
- 1 year of work experience in a production and/or manufacturing environment
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 60 lbs frequently
- Committed to following all personal safety requirements rigorously
- Flexible and able to execute other duties and production tasks required
- Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, basic division)
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Capable of obtaining certification to operate a forklift or pallet jack
- Vigilant in performing quality/ procedural checks and operating equipment
- Proven experience in leadership/supervisory roles
- Strong people skills and ability to deal with all levels of employees and management—both on site and remote
- Demonstrate strong accountability, consistency and follow‑through skills
- Knowledge of set‑ups, operations, adjustments to equipment or machinery
- Proficient computer knowledge: Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and designated inventory system
- Follow all Vital Farms policies, procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices
