Job summary

Danfoss is seeking a Process Technician (Assembly Team) in Ames, Iowa to support the manufacturing cell from set-up to testing. You will monitor and troubleshoot equipment, provide line support, and help implement process changes to improve safety and quality.

The role requires an AA degree or technical diploma with some related experience on Danfoss products, plus strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of TPM/SMED. Collaboration across engineering and maintenance teams is essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an AA degree or equivalent from Technical School; and 6 months related experience on Danfoss products.
  • Desire for a 4-year degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mfg. Engineering or ME/AgE.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes, process aids, and poke yokes.
  • Familiarity with TPM and SMED techniques.
  • Customer service mindset and ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics and understand complex hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to utilize diagnostic equipment (e.g., measurement devices).
  • Excellent safety record and approach to behavioral-based safety using PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment used in assembly lines.
  • Provide line support for the assembly cell and assist with safety and process quality issues.
  • Troubleshoot daily issues and drive containment by equipping teams with tools and SOPs.
  • Assist in implementing process changes and solve problems on the shop floor.
  • Gather data and observe processes to support new process introductions and improvements.
  • Help design and implement manufacturing controls and Poka-Yokes on lines.
  • Lead or assist on tactical implementation projects.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineers, Maintenance, Controls, and Calibration teams.

Process Technician

We have an immediate opportunity for a Process Technician (Assembly Team) to join us at our Ames, Iowa location in the US. The Process Technician will be responsible for the assembly process in assembly cells from set-up to testing.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Monitors & trouble shoots electrical & mechanical equipment used in the assembly process to build hydrostatic pumps, motors, and components
  • Provide line support for the assembly cell and is the next level of escalation after the cell expert for manufacturing issues related to safety and process quality
  • Troubleshooting daily issues and eliminating issues from recurring by giving others the tools resolve the issues themselves, using visual aids, SOP's, training, etc.
  • Assist in the daily activities of implementing process changes and problem solving on the shop floor
  • Assists in the prove-out of new processes and process changes by gathering data, time studies, making observations about the process, and communicating ideas to improve results
  • Help design and implement manufacturing controls, such as Poka-Yokes on assembly lines
  • Leads or assists on tactical implementation projects
  • Works closely with the Process Engineers, Maintenance, Controls, Calibration, as well as other support functions
What We're Looking For
  • Minimum of an AA degree or equivalent from Technical School; and 6 months related experience on Danfoss products. Desire for 4-year degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mfg. Engineering or ME/AgE
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes, process aids, and poke yokes
  • Working knowledge of quality/problem solving tools (PPAP, Capability studies, PFMEA, Gauge R&R, 4-Step, 8D, Fishbone)
  • Computer skills, (Microsoft Office, PLC, test stand, CAD modeling)
  • Familiarity with TPM and SMED techniques
  • Customer Service mindset and the ability to stay calm under pressure are necessary traits.
  • Ability to read electric and hydraulic schematics, ability to understand complex hydraulic systems
  • Ability to utilize diagnostic equipment (e.g., measurement devices for current, pressure, flow, temperature, torque, etc.)
  • Excellent safety record and approach to behavioral based safety using proper PPE are requirements.
  • Able to interact with all levels of organization (Shop floor to Management)
