Job summary

Danfoss Power Solutions in Freeport, IL is seeking a Process Engineer to design and refine production lines for hydrostatic transmissions. You will collaborate with design teams, production floor, and external partners to ensure state-of-the-art processes and high-quality output.

The role emphasizes Lean manufacturing, machining and assembly support, and hands-on leadership on projects from concept to completion, with AR/VR visualization and close teamwork across functions.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a process/manufacturing engineering role.
  • Experience supporting machining, finishing, and semi-automated assembly is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing process improvement projects from concept to completion.
  • Design and implement manufacturing cells with suppliers; select and integrate tooling and machinery.
  • Apply Lean principles to analyze and streamline production workflows.
  • Utilize AR/VR to visualize new machines and cell layouts before implementation.
  • Act as a technical problem-solver on the production floor.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead manufacturing process improvement projects from concept to completion, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and timeline goals.
  • Design and implement state-of-the-art manufacturing cells, collaborating with equipment suppliers to select and integrate the besttooling and machinery.
  • Apply your expertise inLean Manufacturingprinciples to analyze and streamline production workflows, eliminating waste and boosting productivity.
  • Utilize innovative technologies likeAugmented and Virtual Realityto visualize and validate new machine designs and cell layouts before implementation.
  • Act as a key technical problem-solver on the production floor, working directly with our teams to resolve process challenges and ensure smooth operations.
What We're Looking For
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in aprocess or manufacturing engineeringrole, preferably supporting machining operations, finishing operations and semi-automated assembly
  • Proven experience withLean Manufacturingtools and methodologies (such as Value Stream Mapping, 8D, FMEA, or SMED).
  • Proficiency withCAD/CAM software(such as NX, AutoCAD, or Inventor) and familiarity with PLM systems like Teamcenter.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with everyone from production teams to senior management.
