Placements24 is seeking a Process Safety Engineer for a client in Paarl to uphold top safety standards in chemical processing. You will identify hazards, assess risks, and implement mitigations to protect people, environment, and assets.

The role emphasizes PHAs, LOPA, HAZOP, PSM, and regulatory compliance; requires 5+ years of process safety experience and a chemical engineering degree; successful candidate will lead safety studies and training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years in process safety engineering in chemical or energy sector.
• Knowledge of PHAs, HAZOP, LOPA, PSM and regulatory standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct PHAs such as HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop and implement PSM programs and standards.
• Perform SIL assessments and recommend protective measures.
• Investigate incidents and near misses; determine root causes.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to engineers and operators.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
