Job summary

Sun Chemical North America is seeking a Process Safety Engineer II to lead PSM activities, risk assessments, and capital projects across our North American sites.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering, 5+ years in chemical process or project engineering, and strong PSM knowledge. You will collaborate with Operations, EHS, Maintenance, Procurement, and external partners to drive safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
• 5+ years of experience in process or project engineering within the chemical industry
• Strong Process Safety Management (PSM) experience, Knowledge of NFPA, API RP 520/521, AutoCAD, P&IDs, and project management tools
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including PHAs, risk assessments, PSSRs, and hazard reviews.
• Identify and implement safety, reliability, and process improvement solutions.
• Manage safety-related capital projects from concept through startup.
• Conduct HAZOPs, support Management of Change (MOC), and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with Operations, EHS, Maintenance, Procurement, and external partners.
• Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
