Job summary

Sun Chemical is seeking a Process Safety Engineer II for North America to lead PSM activities, drive risk reduction, and deliver capital projects across manufacturing sites. You will conduct PHAs, HAZOPs, and MOC support while collaborating with Operations, EHS, and maintenance teams.

The role requires a chemical engineering background with 5+ years of process safety or project engineering experience, a strong knowledge base in NFPA/API standards, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in process or project engineering within the chemical industry.
• Strong Process Safety Management (PSM) experience.
• Knowledge of NFPA, API RP 520/521, AutoCAD, P&IDs, and project management tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including PHAs, risk assessments, PSSRs, and hazard reviews.
• Identify and implement safety, reliability, and process improvement solutions.
• Manage safety-related capital projects from concept through startup.
• Conduct HAZOPs, support Management of Change (MOC), and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with Operations, EHS, Maintenance, Procurement, and external partners.
• Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
