Job summary

Sun Chemical Corporation in North America is seeking a Process Safety Engineer II to drive process safety, risk reduction, and operational excellence across our manufacturing sites.

You will lead PSM activities, perform hazard analyses, manage safety-related capital projects, and collaborate with Operations, EHS, Maintenance, and Procurement to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
• 5+ years of experience in process or project engineering within the chemical industry
• Strong Process Safety Management (PSM) experience
• Knowledge of NFPA, API RP 520/521, AutoCAD, P&IDs, and project management tools
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Lead PSM activities: PHAs, risk assessments, PSSRs, and hazard reviews
• Identify and implement safety, reliability, and process improvement solutions
• Manage safety-related capital projects from concept through startup
• Conduct HAZOPs, support Management of Change (MOC), and ensure regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with Operations, EHS, Maintenance, Procurement, and external partners
• Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives

Process Safety Engineer II North America

Join Sun Chemical's Group Engineering team and help drive process safety, risk reduction, and operational excellence across our North American manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including PHAs, risk assessments, PSSRs, and hazard reviews.
• Identify and implement safety, reliability, and process improvement solutions.
• Manage safety-related capital projects from concept through startup.

Preferred

• ATEX, SAP, ICC, fire protection, and PFAS experience
