Job summary

Sun Chemical, part of the DIC Group, is seeking a Process Safety Engineer II to drive process safety, risk reduction, and operational excellence across North American manufacturing sites. The role partners with Operations, EHS, and Maintenance to implement robust risk controls and capital projects that improve safety and reliability.

Responsibilities include leading PSM activities, performing PHAs and hazard reviews, and supporting MOC, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in process or project engineering within the chemical industry.
• Strong Process Safety Management (PSM) experience.
• Knowledge of NFPA, API RP 520/521, AutoCAD, P&IDs, and project management tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including PHAs, risk assessments, PSSRs, and hazard reviews.
• Identify and implement safety, reliability, and process improvement solutions.
• Manage safety-related capital projects from concept through startup.
• Conduct HAZOPs, support Management of Change (MOC), and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with Operations, EHS, Maintenance, Procurement, and external partners.
• Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
