About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to bolster their safety initiatives in Welkom . This vital role focuses on identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related hazards within the oil and gas operations to ensure the highest standards of safety and environmental protection. You will play a key part in developing and implementing robust safety management systems, conducting rigorous risk assessments, and promoting a proactive safety culture throughout the organization. This position is essential for safeguarding personnel, assets, and the environment in a critical industrial setting, contributing directly to the company's commitment to operational integrity and responsible resource development.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies , Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and other risk assessment techniques.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and procedures.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards.
• Provide technical guidance and training on process safety principles to operations and engineering staff.
• Review process designs and modifications to ensure they meet safety requirements and minimize risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering , with a focus on the oil and gas or petrochemical industries.
• Thorough understanding of PSM elements, risk assessment methodologies, and safety regulations.
• Experience with HAZOP facilitation and quantitative risk assessment (QRA) is highly advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
