About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Engineer to oversee and optimize operations at their major petrochemical facility in Welkom . This role is critical for ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operation of complex chemical processes. You will be responsible for troubleshooting operational issues, implementing process improvements, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, extensive experience in plant operations, and a commitment to continuous improvement and safety within the energy and petrochemical industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze plant performance data to identify areas for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational problems, conducting root cause analysis for recurring issues.
• Design, evaluate, and implement process modifications to enhance safety, product quality, and yield.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations and company policies.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide technical training to operators and junior engineers.
• Lead or participate in process hazard analyses (PHAs) and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process engineering , specifically within petrochemical or refinery operations.
• Strong knowledge of unit operations, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and reaction kinetics.
• Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and process control systems.
• Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a plant environment.
