Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) offers internship and co-op opportunities for high-performing students to gain hands-on experience in Chemical/ Petroleum Engineering. Interns work closely with experienced professionals on process safety programs and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include leading risk analyses, trainings, incident investigations, and supporting audits across Refining, Midstream and related services. On-site, 40 hours weekly; EEO employer with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering.
• Concurrent enrollment for the duration of the internship.
• Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
• Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Lead process safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance with PSM/RMP and internal standards.
• Coordinate hazard risk identification and mitigation activities (PHA/LOPA/MOC) and close recommendations.
• Engage Operations, Maintenance and Engineering to resolve process safety issues and train stakeholders.
• Participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and reporting.
• Compute and analyze process safety leak calculations and metrics; prepare trend reports.
• Support conformance audits and regulatory inspections; assist in enforcement actions.
