Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) offers internship and co‑op opportunities for high‑performing college students to gain meaningful hands‑on experiences in safety, health and environmental fields.

Interns/co‑ops work with experienced professionals in Refining, Midstream, and Transportation segments, receiving training in HES&S areas and contributing to safety and compliance projects across the organization.

Qualifications

• Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor's degree (or higher) seeking program for the duration of the internship experience.
• Strong academic performance.
• Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
• Must be able to safely ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs and/or ladders, and lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver's license for work-related travel.
• Must be able to provide reliable transportation to and from place of work.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
• Available for multiple work terms is preferred.
• MIN – $24.09 per hour / MAX – $35.96 per hour

Responsibilities

• Assist in safety, health, and security planning and compliance activities.
• Support facility audits and inspections.
• Participate in health safety and security projects.
• Assist in training programs for employees.
• Contribute to incident investigations and emergency preparedness.
• Coordinate with various Marathon business units as needed.
• Prepare reports for projects where required.
