Job summary

ABB’s Senatobia, MS manufacturing facility is seeking a quality engineer to deploy the quality strategy at the local unit, promoting quality culture, prevention, and continuous improvement to exceed customer expectations.

You will collaborate with production, engineering, and supplier teams to address quality concerns, perform data-driven problem solving, support FPY and scrap reduction, and apply tools such as Excel, Minitab, and Tableau onsite.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 0–2 years of engineering, manufacturing, quality, internship, or co-op experience.
  • Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, 8D, PFMEA, PPAP, Value Stream Mapping, or Line Balancing.

Responsibilities

  • Support deployment of the quality strategy at the local unit, fostering quality culture and prevention.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering and supplier teams to address quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at scrap reduction, FPY, and defect reduction in onsite operations.

Each day, you will assist the organization in achieving the right mix of prevention, continuous improvement, robust root cause analysis, quick response, and sustainable solutions to problems. You will also showcase your expertise by collaborating with local functions that impact the quality results to reach the targets for the organizational unit and aim for world-class performance.This position will report to the Process Quality ManagerThe work model for the role is: OnsiteRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.0-2 years of engineering, manufacturing, quality, internship, or co-op experience.Basic knowledge of at least two of the following quality and continuous improvement methodologies: Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, 8D, PFMEA, PPAP, Value Stream Mapping, or Line Balancing.Experience analyzing and solving manufacturing or process-related quality issues using structured problem-solving techniques.Ability to support production operations by driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on scrap reduction, First Pass Yield (FPY), defect reduction, and process performance.Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret quality and production data.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.Ability to collaborate with production, engineering, and supplier teams to address quality concerns and implement corrective actions.Must be eligible to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements.Ability to work onsite at ABB's Senatobia, MS manufacturing facility.Preferred QualificationsPrevious quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or quality assurance experience within a manufacturing environment.Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent continuous improvement training.Experience using data analytics and statistical tools such as Minitab or Tableau.Knowledge of supplier quality, corrective actions, root cause analysis, and defect reduction methodologies.Experience supporting First Article Inspection (FAI), process validation, quality testing, or quality-at-source initiatives.Familiarity with CAD/design software such as Creo or Autodesk.Master's degree in engineering discipline.Previous experience within electrical products, electrical equipment, or electromechanical manufacturing environments.What's in it for you?
