Job summary

CPS, Inc. in northern Wisconsin is seeking a Process Project Engineer to enhance plant production, safety, and reliability. You will lead design/installations for start-ups, manage varied capital projects, and provide cross-functional technical support to maintenance, labs, and operations.

You will develop process diagrams, optimize batch times, improve yields, and justify ROI. Strong communication and leadership across a 3–5 person team are essential for success.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemical Engineering required.
• 5+ years in chemical plant/production environment; PSM exposure preferred.
• Experience with materials of construction evaluation.
• Strong business/finance knowledge.
• Self-driven with minimal supervision.
• Good communication and ability to lead 3–5 people.
• ROI justification reporting capability.
• Track progress and set measurable goals.
• Maintain organized workspace and retrievable files.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and installation of equipment for process start-ups.
• Identify and implement process optimizations to reduce costs.
• Manage capital projects from small (<$10k) to large (>$1MM).
• Troubleshoot process issues with Operations.
• Collaborate with plant teams to solve complex problems.
• Create and update process flow diagrams and P&IDs.
• Provide support to maintenance with equipment specs and schedules.
• Train operators and plant personnel on engineering topics.
• Develop Engineering Operating Procedures for new equipment.
• Support safety and quality initiatives and participate in PSM activities.
• Prepare reports and analyze data to improve operations.
• Track budgets and equipment downtime; set performance metrics.
