A leading energy company seeks a Process Optimization Lead to drive process improvements within the Value Chain Optimization team. The role involves identifying inefficiencies, collaborating with various stakeholders, and implementing data-driven solutions to enhance operational excellence. Position Summary:
This position is part of the Value Chain Optimization (VCO) team and will be responsible for process improvement solutions as part of the broader Value Chain Optimization efforts, including but not limited to material and energy balances, blending, quality management, oil movements, and operations execution management (rounds/logbook/handover). The position will report to the Global Optimization Director for Process Excellence and can be located at any MPC office-based location or worksite. Up to 25% travel can be expected.
The selected candidate will be critical to the success of the VCO team, supporting initiatives around process and functional design, best practice identification and implementation, and assisting in the development of initiatives to close gaps. The candidate will have direct interaction with a wide array of organizations within MPC, MPLX, and third parties, with a focus on work processes, applications, and data flows across the value chain. The candidate will work closely with internal and external groups, and should be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, team oriented, and adaptable.
This position is part of a job progression with multiple grade levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Identifies, develops, and leads initiatives to streamline operations, applications, and enhance productivity using proven process improvement methodologies. Work processes and applications assessed will center on the operations portion of the value chain.
Possesses a robust understanding of current processes in the value chain, assesses current processes, identifies inefficiencies and inconsistencies, and uncovers opportunities for improvement to drive operational excellence.
Partners with teams across the organization to implement data driven solutions, track progress, and ensure sustainable improvements. Assists with reviews and feedback with IT and third parties regarding quality management process and tool enhancements and development work.
Leads and supports change management efforts related to process improvements, ensuring smooth transitions and stakeholder engagement.
Identifies and assesses potential risks in process changes and improvement initiatives, develops mitigation strategies, and actively manages risks throughout project lifecycles.
Collaborates with leadership and key stakeholders to ensure initiatives align with organizational priorities and deliver measurable results.
Collects and analyzes performance data to track progress, identifies trends, and supports informed decision-making.
Tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) for ongoing initiatives, adjusting strategies as necessary to optimize outcomes. Provides oversight of business adoption and utilization of tools and systems to ensure that progress is maintained in accordance with overall VCO vision.
Provides guidance, training, and support to teams on continuous improvement methodologies, fostering a culture of excellence.
Develops and presents compelling business cases, including cost-benefit analysis, to secure leadership buy-in. Communicates and manages initiative progress through direct collaboration and major milestone communication to leadership.
Continuously monitors market trends, emerging technologies and best practices to drive innovation and elevate continuous improvement efforts.
Leads and oversees day-to-day activities, ensuring accountability on identified initiatives.
Leverages expertise and experience to enhance collaboration and buy-in across the footprint to enable initiative execution.
Learns key business and technological parameters to find collaborative solutions between business and technology models.
Coordinates training plans with other groups related to initiatives and ensures support is in place for long-term sustainment.
Education and Experience:
Process Optimization Lead:
Bachelor's degree required.
Eight (8) years of related experience; including four (4) years of relevant experience in planning, scheduling, and/or operations.
Experience with sustainable work process implementation and knowledge of applicable tools and systems preferred.
Experience facilitating major project management or process design preferred.
Process Optimization Consultant:
Bachelor's degree required.
Ten (10) years of related experience; including five (5) years of relevant experience in planning, scheduling, and/or operations.
Experience with sustainable work process implementation and knowledge of applicable tools and systems preferred.
Experience facilitating major project management or process design preferred.
Skills:
