Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Fairfield, CA seeks an assembler for first shift (Mon–Fri, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) on site, with potential overtime and security-clearance prerequisites. You will read work orders and drawings, and use hand and machine tools to build parts per instructions.

Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and QA, ensure deadlines and quality standards, maintain a safe, clean workspace, and participate in continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (or vocational/technical education).
• Eligibility to obtain ATF access is required.

Responsibilities

Overview

Location: Fairfield, CA (US-CA-FAIRFIELD-3530, ~ 3530 Branscombe Rd). Schedule: 1st shift, Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overtime may be required based on business needs. This is an onsite position with eligibility requirements related to security clearance and access.

Responsibilities

• Set up and assemble parts.
• Demonstrate proper use of simple hand and machine tools.
• Read and operate per written instructions, work order, and drawings with guidance from manufacturing engineering.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, and production coordinators.
• Ensure created parts meet customer deadlines and expectations.
• Comply with quality systems and ensure product standards are met with no defects.
• Participate in audits and continuous improvement plans/events as required.
• Acquire applicable skills, knowledge, and certifications as required.
• Maintain materials, equipment, and workspace in a clean and orderly condition.
• Communicate potential mechanical and safety problems promptly.
• Report progress and any issues to the lead or supervisor, including any conditions affecting quality.
• Handle chemicals and energetics in compliance with safety regulations and maintain accurate inventory.
• Identify, control, and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste and oversee hazardous materials rites as applicable.
• Clean up machines, tooling, and areas from chemicals and propellants.
• In-plant transportation, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Complete documentation of work (e.g., marriage log, data sheet) without oversight.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• You Must Have: Typically requires a high school diploma (or equivalent such as a GED) or vocational/technical education in related discipline. Must be able to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access.
• Qualifications We Prefer: Chemical / Energetic materials processing, manufacturing, and/or assembly experience is a plus.
