Position Summary

This position requires accurate and accountable performance of all duties to ensure safe and efficient operations in the fermentation and distillation areas. It reports directly to the Operations Manager and functionally to the Team Leader.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Learn all facets of the ethanol process, including cook, distillation, evaporation, dryers, thermo oxidizer, centrifuges, grain system, and water treatment.
2. Operate the plant's DCS (computer control system).
3. Follow Standard Operating Procedures for start-up, shutdown, cleaning, and batching.
4. Maintain operation within set parameters and notify management of issues.
5. Keep accurate logs and record test results for quality assurance.
6. Adjust DCS controls based on sample results to maintain quality and record changes.
7. Maintain cleanliness of the facility, control room, and break areas.
8. Brief incoming shift staff on ongoing issues and upcoming tasks.
9. Coordinate with maintenance for mechanical issues.
10. Learn testing procedures in collaboration with the Laboratory team.
11. Report production problems to the Plant/Production Manager.
12. Complete tasks assigned by supervisors and assist in other areas as needed.
13. Be available for call-in work and overtime as required.
14. Participate in safety programs and ongoing training.
15. Follow all safety procedures.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate utility vehicles.
3. Hardworking, self-motivated, detail-oriented, dependable, and a team player.
4. Ability to multi-task and own projects.
5. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
6. No prior experience necessary; industrial plant experience is a plus.
7. Knowledge of regulatory requirements (FRA, TTB, state regulations).

Work Environment & Physical Demands

1. Manage confined space entry, climb ladders, lift up to 60 lbs, and work at heights.
2. Work near moving mechanical parts, in dusty and noisy environments, and outdoors in all weather conditions.
3. Handle chemicals used in the process safely.
