Job summary

Minerals Technologies Inc. in Canaan, CT, seeks a Process & Manufacturing Support Engineering Intern to help develop and maintain applications that control the manufacturing process and improve equipment availability, reliability and productivity.

You will assist in developing process diagrams, P&IDs, and mass/energy balances, while minimizing maintenance costs. This role offers hands-on experience with MTI processes and potential pathways for future MTI opportunities.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Mining or Industrial Engineering.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiar with AutoCAD and common engineering software.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and optimize processes; support plants by identifying problems and implementing solutions.
• Develop engineering flow diagrams, P&IDs, and mass/energy balances for operations.
• Compile and maintain basis of design information.
• Identify technologies and equipment for upgrading processes.
• Develop new processes for manufacturing of products.
• Gather and correlate data for product development and scale-up.
• Create equipment specifications and risk assessments.
• Configure and troubleshoot control systems; document results.
• Explore new technologies to enhance predictive maintenance and Best Practices.
