Job summary

Oerlikon in Westbury, NY seeks a Process & Manufacturing Engineer to optimize processes, lead CAPEX projects, and implement a new sintering system. The role blends process, manufacturing, and project engineering to deliver advanced ceramic and powder processing solutions.

You will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and EHS, driving continuous improvement and technical excellence on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials or Manufacturing Engineering.
• 5–8 years of manufacturing experience with capital equipment projects.
• Experience with powder processing, ceramics, spray drying, sintering, or thermal spray materials.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar; knowledge of SAP, Visio and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve manufacturing processes to increase safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability.
• Develop process parameters and operating windows for powder manufacturing and support related processes.
• Provide technical guidance to production and collaborate with maintenance for reliability.
• Lead CAPEX projects from concept through commissioning, coordinating with suppliers & stakeholders.
• Lead sintering system selection, layout, installation planning and commissioning at Westbury.
• Develop procedures, maintenance plans, and operator training for new equipment.
• Support process validation and transition to routine manufacturing.
• Support Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve OEE, yield, and capability.
